When phylloxera landed in Europe in the late 19th Century and devastated the continent's vines, there were some remote areas that went unaffected. Sealed off from the ravaging bugs, some of these vines continue to produce grapes to this day and are some of the oldest producing vines in the world.
A prime example of this are the 145 year old vines that, through unending care and maintenance, produced the verdejo grapes in this beautiful wine. Verdejo itself in it's own right is a historical marvel with records of the grape being grown in Spain since the 11th Century.
Expressive and elegant, this wine is full of history and only begs the question of what if?
